No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did, he would cease to be an artist. -Oscar Wilde
I'm fairly new to Tumblr but I have to say I like the concept of it. I think it a good way of connecting to new (and old) diverse and interesting ideas, thoughts, and just culture in general. I feel this is the internet at its most effective, being connected to the world (humanity through technology) and all of its possibilities. Perhaps it might be used to satisfy our own egos, or to stalk ex-lovers, or even to lock out the outside world. Nevertheless, in this form, I feel it might be used towards something more positive (call me a hopeful pessimist or a skeptical optimist): networking philosophies, stream-of-conscious truths, and bringing out what is artistic in all of us not just for the sake of the golden (green or, perhaps nowadays, burnt out) dollar sign but for that thing inside that makes us human and unique in whatever form it chooses to manifest itself.
I go by Ivy. Wilde is simply a reference to my idol (of sorts), Oscar Wilde who was witty and revolutionary on and off the page. Read the record of his trial if you ever wonder what I mean by off the page. I'm a student of film and have just gotten involved in a small independent production team. I love film and hope to write a few good screenplays in my lifetime. I'm relatively simple in a complicated and contrary way.
This is the only other site I'm really on publicly at the moment. It's private but my interests are still visible. If you're reading all this then thanks for your interest and time. Perhaps I'll read something of interest about or by you.
